Rev. Thomas E. Barrett has been a priest of the Diocese of Palm Beach for the past
40 years. Originally from New York, Fr. Tom moved to South Florida with his
family in 1976. He was ordained in 1993. In fact, he was ordained a deacon in
Vero Beach at St. Helen Parish in the same year. His most recent assignment was
Rector of the Cathedral for the Diocese of Palm Beach Gardens for the past 15
years. During his time at the Cathedral, he was responsible for renovating the
Church (2006) and for the construction of a new Parish Family Life Center (2019),
including a new parish hall, parish offices, and meeting rooms. He is also
currently assigned (since 2002) as the President of John Carroll Catholic High
School in Ft. Pierce. His past assignments include: Pastor of St. Mark the
Evangelist Parish in Ft. Pierce (2002-2005), Teacher at Cardinal Newman Catholic
High School in West Palm Beach (1995-1999), and Parochial Vicar at Holy Family
Parish in Port St. Lucie (1993-1995). He was sent to Boston College for further
studies from 1999-2002 for the purpose of working with Catholic Charties for the
diocese. He has been a member of the Catholic Charities Board of Directors for
the past 17 years and is currently serving as the Immediate Past President of the
Board.
Fr. Barrett has enjoyed serving in a variety of assignments in the northern area of
the diocese and very much looks forward to taking up his new role as Pastor of
Holy Cross Parish. Even though he has other current diocesan appointments, his
primary role and top priority will be in service to the people of this fine and
beautiful parish family. He is committed to continuing and bulding upon the
wonderful ministry and work of Rev. Richard Murphy and the successes of the
parish.
